Well it doesn't look like GW have given up on SBG just yet...

In the preview of next month's WD, next to the LOTR SBG logo:

I don't think the intention was ever to abandon the SBG. However, I think that we, as GW gamers, are especially lucky in that we have two rulesets to support both small-scale and large-scale gaming.
