Me too, I am extremely curious as to their appeal with buyers.

They should have released a couple of really rare OOP models with the bundles or added a new limited edition only with the bundle miniature. That would have created a lot of sales I think.

A sweet bundle would be a mounted fellowship? Include gandalf the grey mounted with the hobbits on ponies and that would sell like hot cakes!

Imagine mounted Legolas with Gimli, mounted Boromir, mounted Gandalf. It would have sold like cupcakes.

Are all those models OOP?

Yes, and are considered rare.

Gandalf the Grey could be considered rare although he is not really rare just expensive.
Mounted Boromir and Mtd Legolas and Gimli aren't rare they are everywhere.

Thanks for the correction 8) . I was always under the impression that mounted Boromir is rare; is mounted Legolas (by himself) any rarer than the above?

Mounted Legolas has been OOP for quite some time now so is another difficult to find cheaply model rather like Gandalf the grey mtd. Legolas mtd alone is definitely rarer than Legolas/Gimli mtd.

My old sixth form college has a mounted Legolas on his own, but I doubt that'd do any of you any good.

To be fair Games Workshop have been doing '1 click-collections' for at least a year for 40k and Fantasy, and none of them have ever had ANY discount or bonus. They normally just cover new releases but themed examples like the above LOTR ones are also common.

Don't expect anything special with them, no OOP models being added, no rebranding metal to finecast for them, just GW grouping some products together for the same price like they have been doing with there other systems for some time now. Nothing more than that.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they honestly just wanna shift some stock, but I can understand why peeps here who don't view the 40k / Fantasy stuff could think these are something special so I thought I'd better clear it up. :)

I think everyone knows this, I just think what most people (including me) are happy about is that they put some thought into The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings set. It just shows that there is a little bit of interest in GW to make some of it "sell" and even thought it won't really work it's just nice to have some love thrown this way.

These 1 click collection sets are really bizarre. I can't see any advantage to them if there is no discount (and I expect they aren't packaged any differently either). Seems odd to release them all these years down the line as well.

Because they only came up with the idea relatively recently? At least Middle-earth is getting some attention.

I am pleasantly surprised that Middle Earth warrants a dedicated release week in their eyes these days. Especially since it seems to be getting the same level of attention they give to their other games. I wonder if they've noticed the slight resurgence of lotr/hobbit around the net.

Ordered Beorn, A Gundabad Captain and 12 Shield Gundabads. Pretty satisfied with those, should look nice and treatening with dirty, corroded armour instead of the shiny look GW took Definately glad I waited on the Beorn. I fully expected the bear to be around £20-£25 alone, and have to pick up the man figure seperately, so that worked out better than expected.

Well, I can't speak for others, but I'm relatively new to the hobby, and I've only had exposure to the Hobbit range. So seeing the LOTR scenarios in the rulebook appealed to me, but I never made the move to buy the models. When I saw this it made me think about it again, and now I've ordered the Balins Tomb set. Yes, I could have done this ages ago, and I've not got any kind of special discount, but it's an attractive way to sell something like that to people unfamiliar with the LOTR range. Plus I've wanted a cave troll for a while

Well I'll be heading into Games Workshop this Sunday to buy each of the Gundabad Orc blisters and the captain.

On closer inspection of Beorn I'm going to have to pass on this release the 90$ aus price tag is in pretty poor taste considering it's nearly half or 2/3rds of the price elsewhere but having said that I still would have purchased it if it wasn't for the sculpt of the bear being nowhere near the likeness of the movie one.
I'm holding out for There and Back Again, hopefully with more screen time for the bear a decent figure will be sculpted.

As for the other figures Thranduil is... just no, a complete joke and in my opinion the worst of the Hobbit range so far and in contrast Girion is amazing. I love the pose and the sculpt he looks perfect. Unfortunately I have no interest in anything Dale or Laketown related at the moment so I'll be passing on him for now, a great mini nonetheless.

So what are the predictions for our next release window? I'm guessing one of the weeks of June and hoping to see some of the following:

Bolg (mounted and foot)
Laketown scenery
Bard (rulebook one)
???

After that I'm predicting an August/October release for Smaug.

I'm gonna predict a new Company with the next release. After all, Thranduil (who doesn't do any fighting in the film) has had two models now, so the Company are deserving of a new release (the poses seen in the AUJ rulebook have to be released at some point). A new Bolg and Bard seem likely.

Boom toys! Cheers Mr Postman. Nice stuff looks sweeeeet! Man beorn is very nicely posed and the bear is alright. pretty detailed. The Gundabads look awesome although the swords look flimsy, 2 of the shields also come separate. Spearmen look alright, havent opened them yet and Girion is just an amazing sculpt.
