Sadly, I watched the movies and now some of my own imaginary is mingled with the films'. Thankfully thought my imaginary was well constructed and is not completely ruined.

Yeah me too, I'm heading to the GW first thing tomorrow.
The box supposedly has 56 mini's:
Thorin & Co. (13)
Bilbo & Gandalf
The Great Goblin
Goblins (one regular size box, 18), total 34.

I'm guessing more goblin warriors and some captains/named goblins, but I'm hoping for some Orc's & Wargs (however unlikely being named escape from Goblin Town)...

I think it'll be:

13 Dwarves
Bilbo
Gandalf
Great Goblin
36 Goblins (ie 2 complete boxes)
3 more 'special' goblins. Considering what else has been released I'd guess that one of these is 'Grinnah' one is the tiny 'Goblin Scribe' and perhaps there's another captain.

There's 55 models in the basic EFGT box, the 56th model in the Limited Edition set is Radagast.

I think you missed the whole point of why we said stuff like that. I said that is "almost seems like", meaning I know full well that it's not the case, just that the goblins look like they can fit into Warhammer, NOT that they were designed for Warhammer.

Hi

has anyone of you guys seen the change in lotr sbg logo on the website of GW?
At least on the dutch site you can see the new logo on the bottom of the page.

It clearly says "The Hobbit strategy battle game".

Hopefully it brings new rules along. really keen for next week when we can spend our hard earned money on GW

Really disappointed that there are new rules. I suppose I will use my own that I made up in the House Rules section of the forum.

Yeah but to be fair we don't know if the 'new rules' mean:

Banners now have a 4" range

or

Might, Will and Fate are removed from the game and you must play all games blindfolded whilst screaming "I love how reasonably priced these models are"

Hopefully somewhere in-between...

After readin WD I think that the "new rules" are upgrade to the old ones - e.g. Monster gets new abilities like Hurling their opponents or every type od weapon gets new special rule - e.g. daggers and sword have rule Feint - ya can re-roll to wound roll id ya have win the fight but ya get -D3 to Fight value.
The examples above are all from WD so probably true.
Hell yeah - gonna be sth totally fun to play

But these are just add-ons to the current SBG rules right? If so, I'll be very happy. Same old rules with more detail and less "abstract" stuff? Count me in. Sure, it will make the game a little more complicated, but maybe that will curb the WFB and 40K players' perceptions of it being a child's game.

Looking at White Dwarf, they've seriously improved the rules :)

Will be interested to see how the new goblins compare to the LOTR moria goblins, I'm guessing a whole new range of figures will need to be made, Thranduil, Radagast etc. Can't wait :-D

I love the bit where the Goblin King hurls the goblin next to him at Gandalf and knocks him over with it, I'm so doing that. All the time. Every time I play =p. Just fling things around the game, why not eh!

I'm not 100% certain but I'd say it's fair game now, these updates aren't coming from people who've snapped photos, they've downloaded WD legally and paid for it, can't imagine GW kicking off about that.

Just downloading mine now - can't wait! :-)

I was thinking about that.

One option would be to turn the current Thranduil into "Elf hero" or "alternate Storm caller"

The Radagast figure could be used as some sort of Hillman or Wildman lord, or even a more "mature" somewhat redeemed Radagast operating in the War of the Ring.

Erestor and Glorfindel can carry on regardless. Though who knows, we might see a new design for one or other of them in the movie (and thus in one of the spring releases).

Amusingly, Cirdan is directly and photo-accurately based on the blink-and-you-miss-him appearance of Cirdan in Return of the King.

The most "vulnerable" to replacement miniatures are the Fall of the Necromancer miniatures. We will likely see, for example, new designs for Mirkwood elves, not a reuse of the Lorien elf design. Still, its probably for the best - the more visual options for gamers, the better.

There are four new heroic actions:
Heroic Channeling, which gives access to more powerfull spells
Heroic Accuracy, which gives an accuraccy boost to archery
Heroic Strike, which gives a boost in combat
Heroic March, which gives a movement boost

All monsters gain three power attacks: Barge, Hurl and Rend.
Apparently, Hurl gives you the ability to pick up enemies and throw them.
Rend is apparently useful against models with high defence.

Hand weapons such as swords and daggers allow you to Feint (no clue on what it does)
Two-handed weapons allow you to Bash.

The game remains fully compatible with the current sourcebooks.

So hurl is not a vomiting attack? That would have been different... messy but original.
