New Hobbit releases. Pre-orders Sat 22nd

Well, it looks like this could finally be the week, as usual the WD leaks have started on the Monday and the first reports claim that this week's White Dwarf weekly has about 15 pages devoted to LOTR (which I presume means Hobbit).

Another rumour from a member of this illustrious forum (who I'm sure will chip in if he cares to) has the release list as Beorn in Bear form, Gundabad Captains, Gundabads, Girion & a new Thranduil, all in FInecast as expected.

Assuming this is all true we should see some leaked pictures and prices in the next day or two before the pre-orders go live on Saturday and the models are released on Sat 29th.

Make the most of this big release guys, my guess is the only other potential releases for SBG this year are a new Bolg and Smaug around August time.

Hopefully this'll be a good week to be a Hobbit fan! :-)

Yes it is a good week because although I'm completely broke at the mo, my birthday is coming up so the timing of these new releases couldn't be better!! Some serious hints going out to the family!!

Is this March 22 then? Oh boy, that's a bit of a stretch on funds. I need to take a gander at the new Thranduil as well before I decide which I want to buy...

So according to the leak it turns up that the Gundabad Orcs will indeed be finecast models...

I get really excited when the mention of new releases comes up... I don't know why though as there is no chance that I will be buying any. I've been given an ultimatum by the wife already for buying up too much lately with the metals going oop. :sad:

I'll be suprised if they release Smaug. For some reason I do believe they will release one but I think it will not be until the final movie is released.

Though I hope the Gundabad orcs will be in plastic sets...10 or 12 models, I don't care as long as they're not finecast

The rumour says so and the smart money is on yes. Everything produced for the Hobbit range after the release of the Warriors of Dale has been Finecast so I strongly doubt they'll change that pattern now. In addition, it's been convincingly argued that there are only 3 sword and 3 pike poses of the Gundabads in the DOS book which points to a Finecast release rather than a plastic one.

I hate finecast....just don't like the resin. Not for miniatures at least. I won't be buying any orcs or much else then.

Except GW has been putting new profiles in White Dwarf Weekly. Thranduil on Elk would make the most sense (and $$$) for them.

They have been putting preview profiles in WD which were quickly replaced by the codex release. I can't see the hobbit getting another sourcebook this early in the year.

Yes. My local GW's manager told me Beorn in bear form is being released in a couple of weeks (In Australia). Probs all the other stuff too.

What I meant was will it be this new FC Resin mixture that the latest FC figures have been changed to in the last few weeks?

Well, this is the news I was hoping for. Phew. Pleasantly surprised about the presence of Gundabad Captains, (if true), I though they'd go the same way as the Hunter Orc Captain.
