Often the drawings and photos are not the final form. I like to see the sets before the blue screen is filled in. The books are not for everyone. They make super painting guides. |

Not liking some of the spoilers.... like the 0 post battle scenes with Dain and 0 beorn (or pretty near). PJ really finished off the killing of the Hobbit book with this one, but so far it is a great fantasy story based almost on some of the book. |

Fully agree with you Charles, the Chronicles books are fantastic, works of art, well worth getting. 2 for each film are published. |

I read one spoiler then I realized that I wanted to try not to spoiler for me this time. The art books are great though, my favourite middle earth related books over the last years for me. I always love to see behind the scenes especially in the art departement and all the concept art really gets my creative side. Lots of inspiration for conversions for example... A shame that I have to wait until January until I can buy it... |

If you read down further, another person who saw the film at a private showing goes through the list and confirms what is said and corrects what is wrong, which is why the first post was edited to change to having the corrected info now. So yeah, glad I got the spoilers as now I am not expecting a great hobbit story anymore and can go in expecting a meh sort of film to go along with the previous two. |

I'm actually pleasantly surprised about the signal tower. It's much more believable (surprisingly) than having Gothmog whispering orders to his lieutenant who just screams them out to orcs that have absolutely no way of hearing them. |

That one in Dol Guldur is pretty sweet. I've actually found that the appendices bits have been handled quite well IMO but the main storyline of Bilbo and the Dwarves has been ruined slightly for me with far too many additions (or exclusions for that matter) that aren't even in the spirit of the book never mind actually there... I sometimes lament the poor scripting of this trilogy as a whole so far because the casting has been so good for each of the main characters. I just find them let down by a lack of faithfulness to the book...
