Really creative!

I like the way you have painted the tiles. The brown looks quite good!

Gotta love that mouse! :D

This has got to be one of the reasons I love this hobby; there is so much scope for imagination and creativity.

The idea is a simple one (the best ideas usually are) and you have carried it out brilliantly. The bases are very effective.

Making your own sculpting tools from old sprue is a stroke of genius. I shall have a go at that one day. The effects you've achieved by pressing them into the DAS are really great. I do like that flooring.

My favourite is the rat. :D

I have to agree with everyone so far that the level of 'creativity' is really good, and to be honest, thats what got this article published. Not the greatest of paint jobs on the latter pictures, however the idea was unique !

This is the sort of idea that gets you wondering 'Why did I not think of that?' In my case, no sculpting ability - that's my excuse.

Well done!

Thanks for all your nice comments. Much of my ideas here came from trial and error. Playing with putty or clay is the best way to learn and find your own styles and tricks with getting shapes.

I have noted the sculpting is basic. And it is. At his size some small odd shapes don't get noticed. These are because the insects and animals are to compliment the figure on the stand and not compete with it.

As Durin says my painting isn't very good but buy and large these terrain bases are a whole lot of fun to make and the enjoyment of that makes up for my lack of super painting ability at the end of day.

If anyone hasa go at this and enjoys it as much as I do please let us know about it...
Also for you Dads out there an afternoon of scpting bases with the kids is just as enjoyable. DAS is cheap and you would be surised at t ideas the kids come up with!

Have fun !!!

Simple and very effective little bit of sculpting. I'm anxious to get home and add some of these to my bases.

Thanks so much for the article!

One question: Do you have any pics with figures on these bases, Dior? I'd like to see the whole effect.

I couldn't do it, of course, but I enjoyed seeing how it's done. :)
