30 mintues to proof-read...what a lot of uses you use 'At Last' for, when it should be 'Lastly' !!! :?

I think you actually wrote this whilst you started to drink alchohol, as in the beginning, minor changes were made, but got worse the further I got into it

OVERALL:
Brilliant job Bart, he really does look fantastic. A detailed description of how you painted him and very easy to follow due to the level of 'Step-By-Step' images provided.

I give you 9 out of 10 !!!

Reason being ...mines better (insert evil laugh) on reflection (maybe not) :(

Fantastic article, with great results. Probably one of the best Cave Trolls I've seen.

Only thing...

Thought Trolls didn't have toes?

10/10! Fantastic article! 8) I'm amazed at just how many stages there were for his skin and the descriptions alongside make the process a whole lot easier to understand.

Loved the close up of the cave troll at the beginning aswell

I loved your article and really appreciate the fine pictures. I gave it a 10/10. You've described what seems to be a reasonably "easy" way to paint up an awesome looking troll.

I'm curious, which book was it that you had as a reference. I'd love to get a closer peak at that.

If that troll ever wants to move house I have a cosy room waiting for him: former chamber of records, nowadays a bit dilapidated… but if he wouldn’t mind laying down that hammer for a moment and pick up a broom, removing some bones & rubble… I would love to have him cheering up my Moria models!

This is quality work, Bart! :yay:

The book showing the Troll on full-sized picture is "The Art of ... The Fellowship of the Ring"

I got all three of them (each movie has a book) and I think they are one of the most valluable sources of referention I have. Ebay and Amazon sell them pretty "cheap" these days...

I'll second that, I picked up the FotR book many moons ago, and think it a great insight into some of the creative decisions behind the movie.

Ok, Ok, I just like looking at all the pretty pictures...

Brilliant!

That's definitely one of the best cave trolls I've ever seen - possibly the best.

The article is organised very well and the pictures show the development of the painting excellently.

Well done indeed. :)

Nice Work Bart.

You've captured the true colours of the cave troll perfectly. I have five of my own to paint soon so I will definitely be using this article as reference.

I love that base too. Spot on!

Wow! :yay: This is a very angry looking Cave-troll! The scales, the hammer, the chain and the finishing of the base are beautiful! Nice teeth too, but they look like they are in need of a good polishing!
