So I was wondering if there is a pdf out there that I can use? I would rather get 35 USD of models instead of books. Also, speaking of models, is there a way to make your own army list and upgrade options? Because I do not want to get 12 types of models, with some being a bit of € for only a few...

Success! I moved the topic without deleting the posts!

As to the questions, there is not presently a free pdf version of the book from GW and I have never seen on floating around for would-be pirates of intellectual property. If you have other people who are interested in playing a campaign you've got the option everyone picking in to share a book but that is about it. On the second question, I would say that you can do whatever you want with your house rules so long as everyone involved agrees to abide by them. You can make factions, upgrades, wargear, or whatever else you fancy. If you want to exchange statlines but not models for your company or alter the recommencement tables to only give you plastic units or their hero variants you can do that. The only thing that can stop a modded version is people not wanted to play with it. Getting people on board with a home-brewed/house ruled/modded version of battle companies would not even be that hard of an argument since the supplement encourages and expects player modifications for campaigns.

OK, thank you! I kind of which they would let you preview some rules, so you can see if you want the supplement.

When the book came out several Youtube channels covered it pretty extensively. Not that they read it aloud but they did talk about what was in it in terms of companies, progression, gear, and scenarios. If you are on the fence about buying it then perhaps those would be of use.

Friend of mine has the rulebook, going to play battle companies for the first time. Any tips on placeholder models for Mordo Uruk-Hai or Black Guard of Barad-Dur? I do not have those models...

I've thought about it for a bit and I think Isengarders would be best. Scouts for the uruks and infantry for the black guard. I do not know what else would have a similar ecstatic aside from them.

It's an expensive book, to be sure, but it really is chock full of goodies. I like the regions pages, you can use them to spice up the original 12 scenarios or whatever other points-match you want. It will probably favour certain armies native to these regions, however. You can also try out the scenarios in this book with other points-match games or what have you. I winced at the page count to price too, but I love this book. I've already gotten so much out of it.
