| Post subject: | Thoughts on upgrades for wargs in a warg rider company |
This month I bought and read the new rulebook for battle companies. In a warg rider battle company there are orcs on wargs as well as wild wargs without riders. A simple warg can be promoted as a warrior and then becomes a cav model. This is a substantial change in character. From this point on it is not the warg who may get further promotions but his rider. That's not just for the warg. His situation is worse than before his upgrade. After becoming a warg rider, the warg is just a mount, which cannot collect experience points any more. And the warrior part of this model has strength 1 lower than before. By the way, if a warg rider is killed in a game and does not make his recovery test, what happens with his warg. Shouldn't it stay in the company as a simple warrior beast? Maybe a warg and his rider should fill two slots in a companies' roster. And both should have the chance of promotion. Then there could be a warg hero ridden by a plain warrior orc and vice versa. And a combination of a warg hero and an orc hero as his rider is not unrealistic, think of Azog on white warg in ME SBG. What do you think about the role of wargs in such a company? |
