Post subject:  Characters on a Corsair Ship?

I've been wanting to flesh out the Corsair Fleets army lists a bit more, and I think I'd be best doing that with some nautical knowledge ... that I do not have! So that's where I need you guys

So, A Standard corsair ship has a Captain and a Bo'sun, but what else?
I've been thinking a master of the Ballistae on the ship, perhaps a cartographer as well?

Thanks in advance guys! :-D

Quartermaster, cook, powder monkey...

Try looking at Privateer Press's Privateer army to see what they have.

well, there is me :-D

anyway, The carpenter/woodsman was always the most important person on the ship, would usually have a really good sized cabin as well - not as good as admiral - but still modest in size

In the Royal Navy in the days of sail there was a rigid structure to the crew of a ship, with officers and men each having their own essential place in the running of the vessel. Each man had a backup perosn (a mate) to take over if he was killed or incapacitated. The officers were drawn from the upper classes of society and the men were often pressed into service against their wills.

While a Corsair's ship would not have quite the same rigidity, there would be some similarities. There would be the officers - Captain and at least one Lieutenant, a Navigator or Pilot, a Surgeon perhaps. The men would be led by the Bosun, each mast would have a crew of men who's job it was to manage the sails and their trim, and each weapon would also have it's own designated crew. There would be the Deck Master whose job it was to keep the deck in ship shape and free of obstructions, and there would be a Master-of-Arms and his mate who keep the weapons under lock and key until it's time to go into battle (the captains didn't trust their men enough to let them carry weapons freely, in case one of mutiny).

Well, if you include him, you need Seaman Staines too...
