These days I find myself spending more and more time to paint fewer and fewer models. I realise that it is because I spend more time on the fine details than I used to, but now I find myself purchasing models far faster than I am painting them. I was just wondering how much time most people spend on this, how many you paint at once, that sort of thing.

I generally paint regular troops in batches of twelve, and they take approximately 1 hour/miniature. I spend much more time on heroes and characters, about 3-6 hours depending on how intricate the sculpt is.

I put my vote at 3-6, which is my usual. Although I once spent 8+ hrs on a single mini....Sauron! :-D

3 to 6 hours is also the usual for me. Although, I try to spend more time on heros and command models. :)

The longest I have spent on a miniature would be roughly 15 hours, in the end it wasn't even worth it IMO, but it was definitely a valuable learning process. This was not 15 hours straight mind you, it was over the period of about 3 months.

Yes, I usually take 3-6 hours for most heroes, and around 8 hours for 12 plastic ones. The longest I have spent on a single model is over 10 hours, but it was the mumakil, and I did it over a week. If I am particularly motivated I can paint for a few hours every day, but this is usually followed by a month or two of doing absolutely nothing.

Never paint minis all in one go, either leave slots for them to dry at stages then move on to the next or a different model. With this said, its spread out over days.

But perhaps to fully perfect him to my liking, a quality mini i am putting effort into, maybe 6 hours ish.

If you'd quit letting him wander about Newcastle Upon Tyne, it might be a lot easier to get him on your painting table.

Depends on the complexity of the model. I've got some where I can get it done nicely in less than an hour, and others where I've invested ten or so hours and haven't finished. I've honestly been working on cutting back my time spent while improving the quality.
