Is it a good idea to buy finecast on ebay or is the risk just too high?

I wouldn't the risk is just too high for me - I don't even buy it in GW without checking it over first, I'd say no at least until all the teething problems are ironed out.

Of 4 finecast packages purchased from GW, I have had to exchange 2 due to MAJOR defects. I had no problem with the exchange at all at my local GW store. Overall, I would not recommend making a finecast purchase via EBay.

I would assume that the only reason people are selling FC on Ebay is to get rid of models that had problems.

I think it depends on how cheap you can get it and the number and quality of photographs of the figure. Also the sellers feedback

Just bought an Amdur Lord of Blades from ebay, only had an image of the front of the box but the seller had good ratings etc.
If it was faulty in some way do you think you could simply exchange it for the same thing at a GW without a receipt?

GW never require a receipt for an exchange, merely the item must be unopened.
