So this is the question folks:

Would you if money was no object recreate the big battles in the books/films using 28mm 100% Accurately ( 10,000 uruks at helms deep , 300,000 orcs at minas tirith etc)?

of course. In the siege of gondor book, they actually made a scenario replicating the exact siege of helms deep. 10,000 Uruks, 600 Rohan, 300 Elves etc.
I would only set them up though, I wouldn't have the patience to actually play it.

Only 300 elves , looks like i need to gather 250 more OOP Haldir's elves , could use Galadhrim but it would not look right

I must've missed this... to the LotR sourcebooks library!

The sort of floor space required for such a battle ... i wonder how you would move the models in the middle perhaps you would use some kind of stick with a mechanized hand to individually pick them up and place them?

Perhaps some sort of ceiling mounted suspension device as seen used by Rick Moranis in "Honey I shrunk the Kids"

you know these kind of things people lie on when building domino day, maybe that would be something for the moving but still, even with war of the ring rules.
one move would take hours. but it would certainly look epic.

Play it like WOTR!!! Can't imagine no one has seen the battles in this book!

They have hundreds of models on huge scale battles like Pellenor Fields, Siege of Minas Thirith!!!

I would love to recreatie a massive last aliance battle.. u know with sauron elendil gilgald. The whole lot!

If you had bowmen comparative to the amount of warriors, helm's Deep would last for one Uruk volley.
