I'm trying to find some non combatants. Where do you recommend I search? I've seen perry minis has a small range of arab civies and crusaderpilgrims. Has anyone else found some good non combatants?

I have all kinds of reaper civs, but they tower over my gw guys. I'd like something a little closer in size. Thanks for the advice though.

Really? All mine are 28mm as well. I wasn't aware there was anything else

You're right, they're 28, but lotr is 25mm. If you put a reaper mini on an lotr base the reaper mini stands as tall as a harad half troll. The reaper proportions are also larger, as they are considered "heroic" scale. For rpg it doesn't make much of a difference, but for wargaming, I'd like to try and find something a bit more true to scale.

I've got the Perry ones and they are a great match.

LotR claims 25 but it's been such a long time since they were actually. Do you remove the metal they're standing on first? That's made the height difference negligible in my experience. But the heroic scale is a good point. I'll keep my eyes open for some other models

Foundry used to have some good medieval civilians.

Townsfolk from eBob Miniatures, clearly LotR inspired:

Oh, yeah, I forgot about hacking off the integral base. But, yeah, the proportions are still.

Theres are range of civilians from Warlord Games.

Roman (not really that useful):

Greek (same problem):

Celtic (a bit better, especially if you want them running away from an army):

Reaper is a better match for Mithril. I find if you mix the figures it does not matter as much as you would think. The Heritage figures are small for LOTR. You hardly notice.

I really like the dogs and cat in that set. Too bad you can't buy them separately.

In addition to the great civilians mentioned by others, I can also recommend Gripping Beast (also for many more of their ranges!):

I have the Women en Kids myself and they look great, I think! They are a tiny bit smaller than LotR minis (especially the newer models), but the difference is no problem at all, I think.

Wow! Those gripping beast models look great! Once I finish my armies I'd love to have some civilians. They'd act great as objective markers or add interesting elements to the game. Especially for a "Burning of the West Fold" scenario.

The site is hard to navigate but you may buy many as individuals

Ah, indeed, the cat and dogs are available separately for less than 2 euros. Thanks. I'm disappointed by the fact that the minimum order is 15 euros, so shipping from Italy might be a bit much.
