 Post subject: Pure white

I wondered how i could get a radiant light white without making the models look unrealistic. So iam going to use pure skull white for the highlights but dont know what to use for foundation/shades. Best thing to do would be to contact Samoht, since he's the one who painted that.

It looks like layers of Fortress Grey, Codex Gray, and Chaos Black. Though it could be just mixes of Chaos Black and Skull White.

I think the reason that it seems to 'pop' so much is because there is more contrast than normal. Normally you start with a grey and shade up to white, but because he shaded up from black there is more contrast and it makes the white look brighter. I would suggest starting from black and then layering up to pure white, though you could probably get away with starting with a dark grey instead of black. 8)
