So I have started painting my WoMT. I starting with the faces since it is such a small area on the model thinking it wouldn't be so bad. I am not happy with the base coat so I am worried about moving further!

That being said, does anyone have any suggestions for painting their faces or ways that worked best for them?

Thanks for your help!! :D

This is a pretty good ressource for painting eyes, maybe it'll help you?

What I did was base coat with dwarf flesh and then a wash of devlin mud.

Totally weird that is exactly what I did last night! I hope to give it a slight highlight of dwarf flesh tonight.

That eye tutorial is really good! I will definitely be giving it a try. Thanks!!

If you would like to take a further step, I'd suggest resetting the dwarf flesh after the wash, followed by a highlight of Elf/Kislev Flesh.

Looking forward to seeing pics! :)

I think that sounds like a good plan. I will give that a shot tonight, I am just not sure about the eyes on these though. It is very intimidating to even think about the eyes right now, although it would be good practice :o

I will start a new WIP to keep me focused on finishing these bad boys!

I wouldn't worry too much about the eyes right now. You can try by all means, but I personally don't believe that they're essential for regular foot soldiers. I tend to just carefully paint around them from the beginning, leaving a small dark line. You'll see this in some GW-painted figures too, and I find it to be a great effect.
