Can anybody advise me on an alternative for a shade model? I hope to strengthen my Moria army, but just can't force myself to like the GW shade miniature, while I just adore its special rule. Thanks. |

ANY other model painted in suitable colours will do fine. Dark-ghost colours, with purples and blacks, as opposed to eerie-ghost models (like the blues and greens) will help to show that it's a shade. More than one model on the base will also help. Whisps around it should seal the deal (can be made with cotton wool or greenstuff). |

Well, there are a ton of different manufactures out there if you don't mind going outside of GW for something. This one is from Reaper and is just awesome! Night Spectre |

Ooh, I like that one. I'll add it to the spiders and bat swarms and such I plan to get from Reaper in the near future. Which book has the Shade rules in it? |

If you're feeling really adventurous, you can do a conversion from some other model you like for the job. That's what I did, & you can see it in my gallery, here. |

I assume The Ruin of Arnor has a bunch of scenarios in it, and I'll have to pick up the book at some stage. What's the max number of shades in the preset forces in those scenarios? I might start getting them sorted in advance of buying the book. |

Just one in the scenarios, however you can include as many as you would like in an army. |

Word of advice, though: don't include more than 2 for every 500 points in your army. They take up a goodly number of points that, after 1 or 2, can be directed against your enemy more effectively by fielding cheap orcs or something more able to fight. |

Cool. I'll just look for 1 or 2 nice looking spectral miniatures and I'll be set then. I'll definately get that reaper one.. |
