In the extended edition of the two towers the uruk hai form an interlocking shield formation when marching up the ramp. I was thinking that it would make a great gaming piece to convert the fighting uruk hai models into this formation and wondered if anybody had done this and if they had any tips on how to make it. Pics would be great if available.

Yes from memory (haven't watched the film in a while though) those Uruks had different shields to the rest. I think that group was specifically designed to protect the battering ram as it moved towards the gate.

You'll probably have to convert some especially for it to recreate that scene.

Yeah thats right they were protecting the battering ram. May be worth spending some time on some coversions but i still have a standard army that needs painting so it will have to wait for now.

It'd be a very nice piece if you do get around to it :)

I guess you could make a pretty cool Wotr formation with it, perhaps even creating house rules for it as a legendary formation of something.

Yeah thats what i had in mind. It would work well in a game, give it a high defence but make sure that is reflected in the cost. Could make some interesting games.

A high defense but only against ranged fire, I'd say, as they are holding them over their heads. Also IIRC they are pretty much pushed off the sides of the causeway by the ram-carriers...not quite as bad of career future as a sapper but not far off. :-)
