What are the pros and cons to using brake fluid other than dettol? Is one more harsh or faster than the other?

I have no idea, but what I can say is that from experience Dettol works brilliantly. Leave miniatures to soak for about an hour or so, then go at them with a toothbrush - be more careful with plastic though obviously. Even if break fluid is faster, I can't see any problems with an hour spend using Dettol, unless you don't have an hour to spare.

Dettol is a safer and easier option, just remember to scrub with the brush in the dettol. Keep the models away from water until all the paint is off or you get a sticky mess.

Don't water it down either, as it goes a milky colour and won't strip the paint. I usually leave it to soak overnight and sometimes give it a second soaking if its a particularly thick coat of paint.

Brown disinfectant pure. I usually go overnight.

Try oven cleaner in an aerosol can - put the minis in a plastic ziplock bag, spray the oven cleaner on, then wait for 20-30 minutes and scrub with a stiff brush. The Easy Off brand works very well for me, and it's totally safe for plastic.
