Hello all.

My problem is, that I've got a warband and a half-worth of Thranduil's new elves and I plan to paint them as close to the movie as possible. That means, gold armour (Not brown, GW) with silver highlights. That's the easy bit as I've painted many high elves.

My question is, I know their under robes are red and I was under the impression that their cloaks/capes were too, but they are definitely a different shade. Closer to brown than red. I don't have much experience trying to get such a tone out of my paints. Can anyone suggest how I might give them red-ish-brown cloaks?

Has anyone painted any yet? Curious to see your results.

Thank you.

About the red, try some burgundy:

Khorne red + rhinox rhide + a bit of black.

You can shadow it with a mix of blac+blue and highlight with a cream color.
