Hello everyone.

Was wondering if somebody could help me out.

I just bought a BNIB lot on a swiss auction site that included the "forces of the dark lord", "warg riders" and "mordor orcs" boxsets. I picked it up for 200 Swiss Francs (about £120-130) because I thought it seemed quite a bargain.

I didn't really join the hobby till fairly late it its cycle and I never bought any boxsets - even now I just tend to buy miniatures that I like off ebay. That being said, I'd never heard of the "forces" boxset. Was it rather rare? Did I make a good investment? A quick check on ebay shows me that people are selling theirs in the £300 pound vicinity...

Thanks for your help and happy Easter.

Lets see

The box contain:

Includes Mtd. Ringwraith, 26 Mordor Orcs w/Command, 5 Warg Riders, 6 Mordor Uruk-hai, and 8 Easterlings w/Command.

Ringwraith mounted: around 8£
24 mordor orcs: (current) 30£; (previous) 20£
orc command (metal): 12£
5 warg riders (metal) 25 to 30£ more or so
6 mordor uruks (metal) 20£ more or so
6 easterling warriors (metal) 20£ more or so
easterling command (metal) 12£

total: (if counting minimum priced up there: 127£, but can varies bettewn that and 150£ considering those wargs are OOP and still a bit demanding, metal easterlings meh other than command, mordor uruks got some demanding on search to obtain so ya, ringwraith its ringwraith so works...

of course these boxes used to be like 70/80£ by that time, but still better than nothing...I think for 120/130 you got yourself a real bargain, payed for what you got, no more profit and no less...

300£ on ebay I think its jsut 2 much for the box, where 200% of its value its basically for the rarity of the box itself cause yes, those boxes are rare.

Rarer still:

Forces of the Free People (Army) contains: Includes Mtd. Theoden, Mtd. Eowyn, Mtd. Faramir, 26 Warriors of Minas-Tirith w/Command, 12 Warriors of Rohan, 5 Knights of Minas Tirith and 6 Riders of Rohan

Host of the Dark Lord (Army) contains: This boxed set contains 48 plastic Haradrim models, 5 Mounted Haradrim, 1 Haradrim Captain on foot and mounted, 1 Gothmog on foot and mounted, 24 plastic Orcs and 1 terrifying War Mumak

Wow, thanks for the very detailed reply, Galanur. I have no intention of selling it, really, think I'll just keep hold of it.

They used to make a bunch of 'Forces' and 'Warhosts' boxes long ago. They had two different forces boxes for both Evil and Good. One of the evil ones came with a Mumak. Then the warhost boxes focused strictly on the individual kingdoms(Gondor, Rohan, Isengard, Mordor, Dwarves). I got the Rohan one when it was still in print for $80. Good way to bolster your army. Wish I had more money back then cause I woulda bought one of each. They are all out of print now, so if you can find them brand new for a reasonable price that you can afford its a great find!
