Next project for my son is the Malmuk. Does anybody have any advice / tips for construction and painting one?

I have built two of them. I drilled holes in the feet and pinned them to the base after painting with paperclips. I also did not attach the tusks or hoodah until it was completely painted. For my second one I repositioned the head so he is looking to his left and I mounted him in reverse on the base.
