Post subject:  Balrog and Witch King 28mm bases?

Hello guys! Are there old models of Balrog and Witch King on Fell Beast that have 28mm bases?

Games Workshop models sold at their website now are only 60mm bases, but I saw some old descriptions of earlier models that looked very similar and seem to be on the 28mm scale.

I'm new to this universe. Does anyone has one of those or can confirm if these 28mm diameter bases models existed? I saw they were made of metal. A few sellers on eBay have it still in shrink wrap and can't measure the base size.

I was confused if these "28mm models" might be referring to a "28mm collection" instead and these specific Balrog and Witch King minis might also have 60mm base diameters.

Thanks!

I have the LotR SBG metal Balrog, it is a 60mm base. As seen on that image it is a solid 60mm not a lipped base.

Hello Robh, thanks for your reply and confirmation.

I discovered there never existed this 28mm bases and they were all indeed 60mm.

Also found a different model for the Balrog in a 25mm base from Journeys in middle earth. Not as beautiful, but I least it fits my board.

Still looking for a different smaller version of the flying feast with the nazgul or witch king!

Thanks!

For a smaller sized Nazgul you could try this one:

Would be a very simple conversion to extend the neck and clip/file down the head shape. Then you have the Angus McBride style beast.

28mm scale is terminology that only wargamers really use. It's a size, not a scale!

It's referring to the height of a standard human soldier, usually. Everything else is then measured against a human being only 28mm tall. So a 28mm 'scale' Balrog is actually much taller than 28mm!

Middle-earth miniatures from Games Workshop are aimed to be 28mm, but they do vary from time to time. Other manufacturers might measure from foot to eye, or foot to top of head, or even measure 30mm, 32mm or 25mm and still be regarded as '28mm' as it's just standard terminology.

All very confusing if you're not used to it!
