Send the citadel guards with Cirion, with his special rule they'll be your terror killers, just make sure they have enough back-up just in case.

How is cirion and 6 fountain guards a terror killer? Pretty much all models with terror have atleast f5, cirion and the fountain guards do not have this. Put the guards with boromir, he is hardest to kill. If you have boromir and faramir, you do not need cirion, borormir has 2 more courage than cirion so his specxial rule is null anyway. As i've said swap cirion for madril.

i find cavalry useless without a decent hero leading them, because i might need that hero for heroic moves to make sure that the cavilry don't get swamped, thus loosing their +1 attack on the charge. and also to use him for heroic combats, further utilising the +1 attack.

i was seriously considering taking mardil and dropping damrod, do you think its a good idea?

I meant terror killers as in they don't have to worry about stuff that causes terror, because the guards auto pass and Cirion has an increased chance of passing terror tests.

Cavalry only lose their +1 attack if they gat counter charged by cavalry. If they get swamped by infantry, they still have +1 attack and the +1 to wound from the lance.

Not unless the infantry charge first, in which case the Knights are fighting with just hand weapons and one attack. When did Lances suddenly give a +1 to Win? As far as I'm aware, Lances only give you a +1 to Wound if you charge.

I agree with WanderingDunedain on Heroes leading cavalry because you'll need Heroic Moves to either plunge deeper in enemy lines or desperately retreat. From what I have seen of Damrod's stats, I'd say drop him. I know little of Madril beyond name and movie role, but he's likely more useful than Damrod.

Oops, meant to say +1 attack.
