As far as smaller armies my favorite is Eomer, I have to take him.

The problem with Eomer now that Erkenbrand has his new rules is he doesn't really bring anything to the table. He's just a hero with one more Will and Fate. Whereas Erk can upgrade your whole army and make them stick around like elves, and is just as effective in combat, for a lot cheaper. For his price, Eomer should probably have an extra attack or something.

Whafrog arent some of the cheap Gondor characters independent like Beregond?

Nope. They're what make Gondor viable at nearly any point level.

Very true on his stats, he's like my good luck totem though, first hero I've ever bought, back when TTT came out he's been in every Rohan game since , has never died, ever. Haven't won every game though. I'll have to give Erkenbrand a shot though, I've used him with the journey book rules and liked him, but now he's looking indisposable on paper

Lots of good advice from everyone there. I have just come back to playing SBG with the release of The Hobbit after a couple of years hiatus (I still painted a few things though) and a move into historicals. I have the beginnings of a Rohan force and plenty that are not yet painted, so will follow this thread with interest so I can get my forces ready for the tabletop.
