Hi all,

So today I started to think about the different magic users that are available in SBG and I was wondering whether anyone had some ideas on the subject. At the moment I am leaning towards either Gandalf or Galadriel.

gandalf is one of the best, but he comes at a price

galadrial is also really good and is far more affordable

it really depends on what you want them to do, someone that can do everything? - gandalf
someone what is affordable and can protect my guys from bow fire and shutdown combat heros- galadrial

if you play elves then the stormcaller is a nice choice as well (combine him with gandalf str will... he can cast natures wrath the whole game)

A Nazgul is the best anti-Hero spellcaster.

hmmmm to a point, i always have more success with gandalf and saruman

Without taking into account points/allies etc...

Saruman the White is best for Good. 18" range spells and low casting values means he can win magic duels. Voice of Curinhir is also incredible.
Sauron is best for evil. Huge array of spells, decent casting values, nigh on impossible to kill, an excellent combat monster aswell.

When you do take into account allies/points..

Saruman is still probably the best for Good.
Personally the Shadowlord/Undying get my vote. However the new Gundabad Shaman will be a top contender for supporting magic user, able to get rid of a models entire wargear on a 4+ is pretty disgusting and the old SB on a 5+ (push a model 2D6" any model hit is knocked over and takes a s6 hit...FILTH)

for good: full on attack gandalf/saruman for support radagast (lots of spells that help heros and, line of site anywher with elven cloak makes him pretty hard to get, combine him with a powerful hero boromir etc)

for bad: full on attack: saruman support: nazgul, i know this seems odd but they have limited powers with the fact each combat and spell takes a will, i cant see them fighting alone, youve only got a few turns of combat after the spells.
