Post subject:  My Isengard List (SBG)

Hi, I have had a few years break from the hobby due to studies and other stuff. Now I think about starting again as I am moving to Oslo, where there probably is a bigger community for this. I have a fairly big collection, with a 1500pt Isengard army, a 1000pt Lothlórien army, and a 500pt Rohan army. I am going to post all my lists, but I start with the Isengard one. It is not final, but more of a draft of what I can do with what I have. Well, here we go!

Saruman: 170pts

12 Uruk warriors/shield: 120pts
24 Uruk warriors/pike: 240pts
2 Uruk warriors/banner: 78pts

Vraskû: 60pts

9 Uruk warriors/crossbow: 99pts

Uglúk: 55pts

8 Uruk scouts: 64pts
8 Uruk scouts/shield: 72pts
8 Uruk scouts/orc bow: 72pts

Uruk Shaman: 50pts

6 Uruk berserkers: 90pts

6 Feral uruk hai: 78pts

2 Warg riders/shield: 26pts
2 Warg riders/throwing spear: 28pts
2 Warg riders/orc bow: 26pts

1 Demolition team/flaming brand: 81pts

1 Assault Ballista: 65pts

95 units, 20 bows, 1474pts, 10 might

Welcome to the site, i look forward to seeing your other lists. Anyway back to the matter at hand I'd swap ugluk for grima and more corssbows (if possible) and drop the siege tools for isengard troll(s) but otherwise it seems like a pretty tight list, i've never really played games over 100pts so i wouldn't know too much on this matter. 6 warg riders seems to little to have a big effect in such a large army, get more or perhaps swap them for more other troops or a wraith.

Well, one could say that the last 500pts would be for siege machines and such for a scenario in Helms Deep or the like. So if we remove 500pts, would the 6 warg riders still be too little? I've been thinking about getting Sharku as well.

What is the points cost for a battering ram team, by the way? Can't find it.

Battering rams don't have a points cost, they are provided free by the scenario :) Even in a siege i would deem an isengard troll more useful than a demo team, but its up to you :) Sharku is a pretty nice hero, but Thrydan wolfsbane is much better, but both of them would be just as good!

Thank you! :) Now I just have to hunt down the SBG profiles for all the new heroes you have introduced me to. Haha. It isn't healthy taking breaks, suddenly there is so much to catch up with!

Ok i think i've pointed you in the correct direction to find all the profiles you want :) and i know what you mean, i rejoined the hobby a few months ago after like a 3 year break and because there were no new rulebooks i though "oh there are no new profiles :(" but i was wrong, all the new profiles are kinda overpowered in that there is not a single normal captain among them :)

Profiles for most models are in the One Ring rule book
Ugluk and Vrasku and feral uraks are in the two towers book.

I have the One Ring book and the Two Towers book and know about their profiles. I am trying to find Thrydan Wolfsbane. But thank you though. :)

I bought the Thrydan models today! Finally my three Dunlending warriors have a leader. x) I guess I'll use him as a leader for my warg riders though. :)

Nice! He is a great person to combo with Saruman: Saruman transfixes something, thrydan runs in on horseback and rolls six dice to wound, all of which count as two wounds when he scores a wound.

Post subject:  Re: My Isengard List (SBG)

Here's a new list with Thrydan, Grima and a maxed bow count. Removed all the siege units too. I still have the wargs, but not very many. Do you still think it's too little although I have Thrydan? I don't have the rulebook here by the way, so I just gambled on Grimas point cost. Doesn't have a great impact on the army though. What do you think? :)

Saruman: 170pts

Grima Wormtongue: 25pts

12 Uruk warriors/shield: 110pts
24 Uruk warriors/pike: 220pts
1 Uruk warriors/banner: 39pts

Vraskû: 60pts

15 Uruk warriors/crossbow: 165pts

Uglúk: 55pts

8 Uruk scouts: 64pts
8 Uruk scouts/shield: 72pts
8 Uruk scouts/orc bow: 72pts

Uruk Shaman: 50pts

6 Uruk berserkers: 90pts

6 Feral uruk hai: 78pts

Thrydan Wolfsbane/horse: 95pts

2 Warg riders/shield: 26pts
2 Warg riders/throwing spear: 28pts
2 Warg riders/orc bow: 26pts

99 miniatures, 26 bows (with heroes), 1494 points, 13 might.
