500pt Rivendell Army (SBG)

I got some High Elves as a present once and never used them, but now as I am getting Glorfindel, I thought I could make a small army with him. Just have to buy some with spears. What do you think?

Glorfindel, Lord of the West: 140pts

9 high elf warriors/heavy armour, elven blade: 90pts
11 high elf warriors/heavy armour, Elf Bow : 121pts
9 high elf warriors/heavy Armour, spear, shield: 99pts

5 wood elf warriors/spear, throwing daggers: 50pts

500pts, 35 miniatures, 11 bows, 3 might.

perhaps more archers- maybe wood elves as they are cheaper and their lower defence may not matter if you stay out of range or provide some cover.

although it is a very good army with the mighty glorfindel at the centre- you would want people to be around for his heroic moves...maybe an extra hero- Erestor is pretty darn good and looks good on a battlefield with Glorfindel and will be good a good team up with your wood elves and their throwing weapons :legolas:

Haha, I'd gladly have more archers! It's just that the rules won't allow me to.

Sorry leggy i have to disagree, glorfindel is more than enough for this army, if you take another hero, your model count will slip into the 20's, which is bad.

It's not a legal LOME list - the 130 point Glorfindel is in the wanderers list so you would still need a hero for each of the wood elf and high elf factions you've chosen. However, in a friendly game I'm sure it would be fine.

Bloody LOME.

Glorfindel, top bloke in Rivendell's community doesn't get to be in a Rivendell list.
Aragorn as strider doesn't get to be in a Gondor list.

You can see the justification for these things if you sort of squint, but they were really pulling things out their nose when making these lists.
The WOTR lists make a lot more sense, even if I have some minor quibbles with some of them.

Unless you plan to play tournaments, I'd get a box of plastic Galadhrim and proxy them for high elves with HA, spear and shield. Much cheaper, and then you can use them in your Galadhrim list

What? Must I have a hero from the warriors list? Grrr. By the way, I can't seem to find the stats for Glorfindel, Lord of the West anywhere. And I have found some elves with spear on eBay, so it's ok.

Glorfindel lord of west profile is at the fall of the necromancher sourcebook.

The 140pt glorfindel just has 1 point more defense and is resistant to magic, you can find his stats on the GW site somewhere.
