I will be playing a game against a friend soon, so I want to make a 500 points Lothlórien army. This is what I have thought of:

7 WE w/throwing daggers & elven blade - 70
7 WE w/WE spear - 56
8 WE w/elf bow - 72

8 Galadhrim w/spear & shield - 80
3 Galadhrim w/elven blade - 27
4 Galadhrim w/elf bow - 40

That brings me to 345 points, and 32% bows. I think I can play around with the heroes now, so I'm thinking of either Celeborn, Galadriel, Haldir + Rumil, or perhaps 2 captains + banner(?).

I could also drop the elve blades of
the WE's with throwing daggers, to get an extra elf. But I was thinking of pairing the spears and elf blades up, and let the spear guy shield and the TH guy try to wound.

I will be facing Isengard mainly. Any idea's?

Thanks! 8)

I think you only need one Hero, such as Haldir. You can then use the rest of your points to get some more troops. How about this?

Haldir - 70pts
8 Wood Elves with throwing weapon - 72pts
8 Wood Elves with spear - 64pts
8 Wood Elves with elf bow - 72pts
7 Galadhrim with shield and spear - 70pts
8 Galadhrim with elven blade - 72pts
8 Galadhrim with elf bow - 80pts

Totals: 500pts, 48 Models, 3 Might, 18 Shots

I just made this list off the top of my head, but I actually really like it. It just has such a huge amount of firepower.

I like it too, it has lots of models. The bow limit isn't ok I think so I'd have to drop a bow instead of the shield/spear.

And what about Haldir? The normal version is 80 points, and gets an extra shot. But the defender of helm's Deep is 70 points without the extra shot. For that 10 points I could take another bow armed model, which results in the same amount of shots, and he has a special rule. So would the Defender of Helm's Deep be a better choice?

Haldir is 70pt, 75 with Bow, 80 with Bow and Armour.

Haven't played as elves often, but may I suggest dropping your armoured spearmen and taking more swordsmen since you're facing Isengard. Mobility will be key against any Uruk Phalanx and any non-phalanx force will find itself at the mercy of your Strength 3 bows. I haven't seen the Defender of Helm's Deep profile but I'd take that one for the extra archer who might provide extra attacks if you get caught in close-combat.

I would pick the normal Haldir as the other one is better when Aragorn and Theoden is around... 8)

Yeah I was thinking of that too, and also thematically it would be better.
But look what the options are for 80 points:

-Haldir with full equipment, with extra shot
-Haldir, defender of Helm's Deep without extra shot, but with special rule (all participants in the fight in which he is killed suffer S4 hit), and an extra elf warrior w/bow.

But I still think the normal Haldir is cooler. :)

I he gets killed by a single heavily armored foe, then his single Str 4 attack isn't very likely to do much at all. If you don't have Aragorn or Theoden in the army, he's next to useless compared to his other self. Not to mention that the Helm's Deep version WAS NOT in the books.

When I took a look I was a little confused with the galadhrim knights... What is the point of giving them a shield? They can't use their blade properly then if they dismount, and they lose it or the bow if they have a bow and dismount, added to the fact their horse has a D5 and cavelry rules state you use the highest stats from the two for the rider... So your buying a shield why? So they can shield while on a horse?

Galadhrim Knights are expert Riders in SBG and can use their bow whilst moving full speed whilst benefitting from the defence og their shield And about the stats, its only fight, attacks and strtength that that rule applies to not defence.

oh? I didn't know about the full speed part, and my mistake about the defence, that seems better now. But what about the two-handed weps? Still can't with a shield im guessing?

That one I'm not sure, you might still be able to use it two-handed but that would probably make them too powerful.

Are the knighs worth it? They look pretty good, but they're VERY expensive. And what about Guards of the Fountain Court?
And I agree about Haldir, I'll definitely take the normal one with armour and bow.

Take whichever haldir you want, knights are very expensive

Post subject:  Re: Lothlórien

They can hold onto their shields when on foot, but they can't use their elven blades as 2 handed weapons if they do.

does this mean they can whilst mounted though hmmm.......

Mounted models aren't able to use 2H weopons, are they?

But maybe expert riders arte the exception? - unlikely though...

No, not even expert riders can't use TH weapons... 8)
May you mean guards of the galadhrim court :)

Post subject:  Re: Lothlórien

If you do mean them, they're a good idea, the choice is whetherr you more want the pike of the fight 6, if not, guards of the fountain court are pretty poor for their pts.

Post subject:  Re: Lothlórien

I find it funny how they seem to give pikes (or spears for that matter) to the units that you would kinda want in the front rank.
