Hello my gaming store is doing a small 8 player tourney and I will be participating with a 500pt Moria Goblin Army. Here is what I got in my head needs some critique.

So here's the army list

1. Balrog of Morgoth - 400pt

The tourney is basically for new comers so there aren't any real restrictions cept for the bow limitation rule
What is everyone's thought?

well if you're playing with LOME then this is an illegal list (under 3 models). But if there aren't any restrictions like that, then this is a pretty good list.

The tourney is to bring in newcomers, so you're going to field a single-model Balrog army to squash everyone else's armies.... Ethical issue aside, its workable so long as no one has a Aragorn with Anduril and Boromir of Gondor combo, which is the only viable tactic I've ever used when I've known a Balrog was going to be deployed.

As Friskuhntm mentioned, illegal under LOME. Solvable with application of Goblins if the tourney is 500points.

Well since there are some new comers that don't really have big of an army they just have 1 point-heavy unit such as the Dragon, Sauron, King Aragorn and a tone of other Fellowship members, maybe a little minion its actually pretty chaotic and easy to manage.

This is actually illegal too, you need a goblin captain as the balrog is in the monsters of middle earth list.

Actually, imo, if someone brings just a 'normal' captain and a goodly (30+) number of warriors, I am betting against the Balrog- mine has a tendency to do abysmally when unsupported, as he is promptly surrounded and then stomped flat under what I call the "Warrior of Minas Tirith Heavy Armor Syndrome"- which, to give context, my Warriors of MT usually do below average. Thus, when they are doing well, or downing things like trolls (or Balrogs) I figure all they are doing is dog-piling the beastie.

Personally, I would skip Balrog, go Dragon, and have fifty points of nothing. But that's just my thoughts.

Guys like I said there's no limitation if I go up to some of the new comers telling them they're not allowed to do this or that that'll probably reply "wtf is LoME I'm doing it either ways" its just a fun tourney, no prizes just to draw in people into LotR.

I think 1 guy's army is Elendil with Merry and Pippin with some WoMT as filler.
game starts tomorrow.
