So I've been trying to make a tournament Barad-dûr Army but i want it to be more themed than a tooled out army. There are two lists that i wrote out. Let me know what you guys think. Constructive Criticism please. Don't be a tool.

you could really use some spears, by dropping the troll(s) you could get enough points for this
Also, banners are usually not very competitive.

Instead of writing the list in a way that puts people off from looking at it (many posters don't read so much detail in posts) you could've posted the lists as this:

1:
Kardush
Black Guard Captain
24 Black Guards
1 Black Guard with Banner
1 Siege Bow
2 Mordor Trolls

Total 32 models, 700pts, 3 Might.

There's no point in posting all their equipment and rules or dividing them into sections of 6, it just adds too much unwanted text which nobody will read because they know those rules already and sections of 6 don't make sense because the way you deploy and play depends on a lot of factors.


First of all both lists are far too small to be even half-competitive. Since you're making tournament lists, you might want to ask yourself the following questions:
- How am I supposed to win Contest of Champions with this list?
- Who is going to be my King in Kill a King? (Btw, it has to be the same model as the Champion)
- How am I supposed to win Domination with just 32 models?
- How am I supposed to beat supported Khazads or supported 50+ Wood Elves, both allied with Saruman who will counter the Trolls in a Meeting Engagement?
- How am I supposed to beat a basic Grey Company list?
- What would I do if I came up against an All-hero force of Aragorn/Glorfindel/Gandalf/Twins?
- How do I stop any combat heroes from ripping my force apart in no time? (Trolls are not an answer, they're too small, have too big bases and are too unreliable for that. Plus if a Troll wins combat with charging Aragorn, then it will cause 2 wounds, while if the Troll loses, often due to Might it will die outright).

Think maybe about something like this:

Black Guard Captain
20 Black Guards
20 Orcs with Spears
20 Orc Trackers

That's 580 points, you have 120 to get a champion, another hero or some ringwraith and you already have 61 models. Maybe drop a few models for a Troll Chieftain if you really like Trolls. Hope that helps.

The Mordor army list doesnt allow the Uruk Hai to have spears. Much tougher force not having that many orcs in it, but they have better equipment options and as the other posters have said give you greater numbers
