Warband 1 12/12
Glorfindel, Lord of the West with Armour of Gondolin;
10 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear;
2 High Elf Warrior with Elven Blade;
----
Warband 2 12/12
High Elf Captain
1 High Elf Warrior with Banner
11 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear;
----
Warband 3 12/12
Gildor Inglorion
12 Noldorin Exiles with Elf Bows
----
Warband 4 5/12
Legolas
5 Wood Elf Warriors with Throwing Daggers
----
Warband 5
Radagast the Brown
------

I found a deal on some plastic wood elves on eBay, and, until the Hobbit range comes out, was wondering what to do with them - so I decided to add some in a warband with Legolas. Legolas and Gildor would be the advance parties, with Glorfindel and the Elf Captain being the heavy hitters. Radagast because you need a Wizard, and Legolas and Gildor are fragile - renew will come in handy.

Any other ideas for Gildor now he can be put in a High Elf list? The number one use seems to me to be maxing out a warband with 12 bows that can move 8" and through difficult terrain.

Lol Shieldmaiden I was about to post a topic posing the exact same question as you: how to utilize Gildor. :sad: Personally I find your list to optimum. I literally can't think of any suggestions or alterations, maybe someone more experience than I can spot something. I am very interested as to its performance. Can you keep us updated if you may?

Thanks :pippin:

I still think its a massive injustice that you can't take a Great Eagle as an ally on its own - they should be independent heroes! Gwaihir is a little on the edge of expensive unfortunately, especially when taking High Elves.

On the other hand, if you were to forgo a Wizard, and rely on Glorfindel's resistance to magic and Legolas' sniping ability with an Elven Cloak, you could figure in a lot more units into 1000pts.
---------------

Warband 1 12/12
Glorfindel, Lord of the West with Armour of Gondolin;
10 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear;
2 High Elf Warrior with Elven Blade;
----
Warband 2 12/12
Erestor
1 High Elf Warrior with Banner
11 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear;
----
Warband 3 12/12
Gildor Inglorion
12 Noldorin Exiles with Elf Bows
----
Warband 4 12/12
Legolas with Armour; Elven cloak;
5 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers;
6 Wood Elf Warrior with Wood Elf spear;
1 Wood Elf Sentinel
----
Warband 5 0/0
Ranger of the North with Horse;
----
Warband 6 0/0
Ranger of the North with Horse;
----

Here you'd be able to capitalise on deployment with the RotN and Gildor's 8" move warband, get rid of Ringwraiths and other annoyances with Glorfindel and Legolas, and you have high courage across the board for keeping your force in action.

what made you take Radagast over sauruman? other than theme? but that list looks solid.

Edit: that second list looks even better. nice number of units aswell.

I never understood the use of Rangers of the North mounted.

@Shieldmaiden: love that second list, though I would lean towards dropping the horses on the RotN and giving all Legolas' WE/spear some throwing daggers. If you can use the Sentinel to draw a big target, like a troll, into throwing dagger range it can be very effective.

The extra movement could be handy, but the extra attack makes them much more survivable in combat.

Why do you have both shield and spear on all your High Elves? It seems to me that having half with shields and half with spears works just as good, and saves quite a few points.

That would require a lot of converting. Plus IMHO it works just as well only at the beginning, but later when the lines are messed up you have more soft spots and fewer tactical options.

Because converting High Elves at this moment in time is a long, expensive and arduous process, with mediocre results. When you consider the points you actually save (one to two more Elves) and the fact that Elves struggle in the warbands system because of expensive heroes, it makes it even more of an effort for not much gain.
