Just got this piece as a gift today. Totally unexpected, which is great. This brings me to my question, anyone played the watcher? How did you play it? Is it any good? x

Oh yeah, it's deadly. The ability to pop up anywhere any time combined with pulling models in combat is really annoying (I usually play against one) and with the added monster abilities it should be even better.

Iv never seen one played before, I just wasn't sure if it was worth the points.

I'm not really saying he is, expensive hero's cut into your model count and thats what Goblins rely on. It does pack a punch and is fun to play with but is it "worth the points" if you compare it to 250 points of Goblin warriors... probably not. That's usually the case with expensive models though.

On it's own, it won't sit too well in all honesty! However, used alongside lots of cheap goblins, it works excellently!

I just wish they would have given something more reasonable to the rules surrounding it's appearance. If someone wants to play it they should bring along some water based terrain (even a few basic marshlands like in TTT journeybook or some river sections). The watcher should be forced to start in one of those and should have some penalties for movement over regular land.

Forgive me if I'm forgetting some of its rules. I only had one chance to look at the new warband book where it was introduced but it struck me as the ultimate decloaking ambush model. Maybe there were more restrictions than I recall.
