As monster became much stronger since the new rules, i want to create an monster army for the good side.
this army should be 400 points. And it is also only one named hero allowed (the tournament rules at my GW store want this). So I am wondering which would be the best list for that kind of an army :)
I do not know if this list would work, but here it is:
Wanderers in the Wild
Warband 1
Treebeard (190)
1 Great Eagle (90)
1 Ent (120)

3 units and 400 Points

I would like to here your thoughts about this topic (you can also post possibilities for a good monster army without these restrictions)

Well, i like the idea, but the problem here is the fact that your army will break very easily, woses have low defence and there are only 8 of them. When making a monster list you need to make sure every model in your army is of high quality, in this case, that is not so.

I would recommend dropping all the woses and ghan to upgrade your ent to treebeard, or an eagle to gwahir. Alternatively you could drop all but one monster, and get more woses in there, perhaps supporting elf warriors like you suggested.

yeah i thought kinda the same thing, if i play woses i can just shoot and run away, close combat will kill me. And because they can not shoot and run this could suck ;)
so do you think an army with treebeard and two eagels would work
i really do not now if eagels are strong enough, i mean they only have two attacs :P

haha and i thought i would be good in math :)
treebeard and ent and one eagle should be 400 points, this could be a nice list :)

401pts? 1pt too many for a tourney 8) At 400pts, treebeard will be nigh unstoppable. I struggle to kill him in a 1000pts. I would go with Treebeard, Ent and Eagle. All fairly tough and capable of killing lots. Make sure you keep them all relatively close so they cant all get surrounded.

I have a great time with my good side monster army and I haven't played with the new rules yet, I can imagine I'll have an even better time now!

Treebeard is really good fun, the eagles are great fun, and they're tough as nails, but they're not as easy to kill things with as ents due to the fewer attacks.

With the old rules I found that the eagles were great when attacking flanks or separated out troops (just two or three) as their high fight value and defence keeps them pretty safe. But if you take on too many troops and/or heroes you can get wounded.

Just remember with three monsters you only have 9 wounds in total! Admittedly they are all at really high defence, but you still have to be a little careful of who and how you take things on. Still, the new monster rules will make it very different and I can't wait to have a go with them!

I think Treebeard, an ent, and an eagle should actually be a fairly solid list. Just make sure to be careful with each of them and you should be fine. As has been said use the eagle for flanking and use treebeard and the ent to break up enemy lines with barges/throws.

thx for your comments i updated the list
i think i will try that :)
one more question about this army
i think this army breaks if i lose 2 models (so that just one model is left) or am i getting some thing wrong???
And what is about the 25% left of an army (which is important for many scenarios). Does this only happen, when all models are gone?

I would check with the organisers. I reckon that when you have 1 left that will be both broken and down to 25% not sure though.

I'm not sure normally that all monster sis a good idea at 400pts, but on the other hand, the enemy do not have the pts to take big hitters that neutralise you, so you are probably more than fine.

In some senario's they are really bed, other senario's they are good.
The problem is that the most of the senario's are not good for this.
Heroic stike will make your ent and your eagle useless.

yeah that is true, but this army should be fun :)
But back to my question:
Wehen does the army break and when are 25% left?

when there are 2 models killed your army is broken and you cant be under 25%, or you are whiped out.
