I'm entering my first tourney in July. It's 800 points. Which list do you guys think is better? Lat Alliance List 800: W1: Elrond 8 High Elves w/ Spears, Shields 4 High Elves w/ Bow, Spear W2: Lindir w/ Heavy Armour W3: Kings Champion 2 Heralds 1 Dwarf Warrior w/ Shield 5 Khazad Guard 3 Dwarf Rangers w/ Bow W4: Isildur w/ Shield 4 Warriors of Numenor w/ Shield 4 Warriors of Numenor w/ Shield, Spear 4 Warriors of Numenor w/ Bow Or Durin's Folk and Arnor List 800 W1: Aragorn, Isildur's Heir W2: 1 Malbeth 6 Warriors of Arnor 3 Rangers of Arnor W3: Balin w/ Durin's Axe 8 Khazad Guard 4 Dwarf Rangers w/ Longbow W4: Kings Champion 2 Heralds 1 Iron Guard 5 Khazad Guard 4 Dwarf Rangewrs w/ Longbow Thanks. |

Really not sure what Aragorn without a warband or a horse will achieve. For that reason I would pick list 1, but I have a few pointers: List 1: A: You could save points by swapping Elrond for Gil-Galad (you'd be dropping Lindir too I assume). B: I know it is a £25 model but mounting Elrond on a horse would make him so much better (same goes for Gil-Galad if you take him). List 2: Either take regular Aragorn on horse and save 15 points, or just get another warband. |

List 1 I suppose, but your troop count isn't very high but your heroes aren't really the best either. I can think of a lot of threats which would overwhelm you quite easily, particularly at 800 pts. Swapping for Gil-Galad is a good option provided you have something else to fill it with. The Elrond/Lindir Combo is great but you really need troops or a hero to get in there and make the most of the situation. Elrond on a horse would work well if you were going to buy him. List 2 - I would dump the Arnor guys then Aragorn - they just aren't durable enough and would just be a weak point for your force. Yes, Aragorn is a beast but still low Defence, so again either put him on a horse or maybe drop him. If you have them I'd just add more dwarves. The Elrond/Lindir combo would go well with the dwarves as they can shield & be more likely to survive for a few turns while you double team the guys on the ground. |

Thanks for the replies guys. I can go with 4 warbands with the Dwarves or 3 w/ Gwaihir, but I thought that in some scenarios they were a bit disadvantaged because of their slow movement. I like your revised list 1 but there's no point in taking one vault warden team. It's too easy to split them up. I seldom take less than all 4 of my teams if I take them lol |
