Obviously it's a hard nut to crack but it's very limited and could be defeated easily by a skilled opponent. You'd be outshot, out maneuvered and slaughtered (probably lol)

It's a nice list, but my question is where are you going be able to get 40 Guards of the Galadhrim Court ? 40 ?!? :)

My question is why are you only fielding one troop type? And one that's not very flexible, it can only operate effectively (in terms of at it's best) in tight pike formations

To answer your question JamesR, I am fielding only the one troop type for a couple reasons.

1) I love the Model...
2) I like the "uniform" appearance of an army that is almost exclusively one Troop type. And the fluff it brings (Celeborn leading the Galadhrim Elite Guards)
3) I really like making use of pike-men in phalanx formations... (have yet to play against monsters though... hurl  )
4) I enjoy tactical challenges... and am not all about having the most competitive army, but more about having an army I enjoy and can have fun with

That elven army is sorely absent of their most beneficial asset - archery. Considering they're all D5 you're probably best getting Galadriel in there for her blinding light so you're able to advance without losing too many troops if you're versing other elven players or perhaps some crossbows. Even getting some of Lothlorien's light cavalry in there would help you. It's just too limited a list and you need to take other options into consideration.

If you want to do elite elves do Gil-galad's King's Guard. More flexibility there. You can get fv6 on any elf carrying any weapon. You could also take thematic allies.

No one likes my armies :? :( :P

Still I will probably build this army over time and then I will post a battle report (when possible) and we will see how my weak army does

My main problem with this list is the same as with the 500 point list- You're overpaying for shooty elves but not using them to their main advantage. I would swap out a third of the GCG for warriors with bows and replace Rumil with Galadriel.

There's a big difference between setting yourself a tactical challenge and taking a list which encourages your opponent to engage in gimpy and frustrating tactics. There's little in SBG more dull than being kited around the board by an opponent who just hangs back and shoots till they can engage at their advantage.

To further what mertaal said massive pike blocks tend to struggle when played on a properly terrain filled board and really without support pike blocks can be shot to death but even worse is how easily they break. All of your models become trapped really easily and some precision movement can rob you of all pike bonuses and make you pay for having such a tight, crowded formation

I don't like this list, too :P
But let me explain you why! What is it a Guard can do an other warrior can't do. They have high fight, shielding (ok lots of warriors are allowed to do it, too) and pikes. If you play them, you should use all this to your advantage. The normal warriors have a high fightvalue, too (there are just a few evil warriors you have same or higher), so you use the Guard to full advantage, if you support the warriors, who are fighting against F5, or F6, but you don't need many guards to do so. Shielding is nearly the same; a normal warrior could do it, but against an evil hero with F5 or F6 a guard warrior will do better. Pikes only have an advantage, if your model count is high enough and you are able not to get surrounded. If you play in three lines, you will have about 15 in the front row. Your opponent's army will count around 75 models (and all of them will get into close combat, because you have no bows). If he attacks your front row with 30 models, he has 45 left to do whatever they like. Imagine he even has mounted models. They attack your third rank. Everywhere will be a 2 vs. 2 but you are surrounded, if you lose and your opponent has about 30 models just standing around and cheering.

I know what you mean... I will probably end up trying this army at some point nonetheless....

I like the idea. And I agree with Maedhros it's nice to set yourself themed challenges every now and again (I do the same thing).
Personally, at such a high points level, I'd say you HAVE to break the theme to stay competitive. I can just imagine a hurl or Sorcerous blast destroying your entire formation.

The problem with pikes in LOTR SBG is they don't have real-life effects, hence why people run sword uruks infront of pike uruks (which in real life would be stupid, as you would use the reach of the pike).
This means that you're better using the pikes to support other units. As NarsilReforged suggested, I'd stick King's Guard with Elf blades as your front rank, keeping the elite theme (drop one warband).
Then probably drop Haldir and add some cheaper archery (wood elves?) just so you won't be completely taken advantage of by a more mobile opponent.

Maybe something like this (haven't worked out points but you get the idea...)

Warband 1
Celeborn, Army Leader (Heavy Armor, Elven Blade, and Shield)
10 Guards of the Galadhrim Court

Warband 2
Rumil (Elven Cloak)
10 Guards of the Galadhrim Court

Warband 3
Galadhrim Stormcaller
10 Guards of the Galadhrim Court

Warband 4
Gil-Galad
10 King's Guard

Warband 5
Wood Elf Captain
8 Wood Elves (Elf Bow)

I dropped the horn (not need IMO) and banner to save points, but I think their might be some spare still. You could always drop the Wood elf captain and add 2 archers to each warband.

That is a good list Highlordell, but I would drop Gil-galad and the High Eves for Galadhrim Guard Archers....
