I have been thinking about starting an Angmar army to oppose my warden's of the north. Something pure Angmar for now but that I could use to expand with allies from Moria and Azog's hunter in the future. Now the thing is that aside from a handful of orcs I'll be buy it all new and I'd prefer to do it all at once or at least over a sort amount of time. So I what something that is playable out of the box as it were, not some tournament winner but would still be fun to play. After a few mouths of mulling it over this is what I have come up with.

Burdur
cave troll x2

Warg chieftain
wild wargs x6
warg riders with shield x4

Orc captain with shield
Orcs with shield x6
Orcs with spear x6

Orc captain with shield
Orcs with shield x5
Orcs with spear x6
Orc with banner x1

Its about 750 pts. total and look decent to me but what do you guys think?

It's not a bad list. But it needs some magic in the form of a shade, Specters or something to fit Angmar. Also it feels kinda like a 'tweener' list. You have some orcs, but not much. Some Cav ,but not much. Some monsters, but not much (in comparative power).
To me you just really need that magic to boost your force' strength massively

What do you think of this for 500 points:

Warband 1

Witch-king of Angmar with fell beast; 2 Extra Might; 2 Extra Fate
3 Orc Warrior with shield
6 Orc Warrior with spear
2 Orc Warrior with Two-handed Weapon
1 Spectre

Warband 2

Barrow-wight
3 Orc Warrior with shield
6 Orc Warrior with spear
2 Orc Warrior with Two-handed Weapon
1 Spectre

Warband 3

Angmar Orc Shaman
3 Orc Warrior with shield
6 Orc Warrior with spear
2 Orc Warrior with Two-handed Weapon
1 Orc Warrior with Shield; Spear; Banner

500 points, 39 models, 3 might?

I think this list has a definite Angmar feel to it. Quite a lot of magic (and different magic as well), a monster and decent numbers. Might could be an issue though, and of course the lack of bows.

For 750 points you could add a shade/Bhurdur, improve the Witch-king, and add som warg riders.

A shaman would be easy enough to get and I could through in a few two handed weapons to for some variety. Thanks for the advise.

How about:

Witch King on Fellbeast 3 might 12 will 1 fate (a bargain at the cost of a Shade & Barrow Wight)
6 orc shields
6 orc spear

Burdur
6 orc shields
6 orc spear

Shade
6 orc shields
6 orc spear

Barrowwight
6 orc shields
6 orc spear

698 points, 6 might, 52 units Weak troops (F3 D5) supported by Shade will win you fights, some very powerful & annoying magic (Paralyze can be a game changer), two good monsters with Might and very good numbers when most of your opponents will bring a war band less at 700 points.

Bows on Orcs need spears to be useful. Don't bother (IMHO). I can't recommend Two Handed weapons: you will usually face armies with higher fight value. With a Shade, you will still win 61%...and 70% against the same fight (according to Lonely Knight's excellent Odds of Winning A Fight software). Winning those fights is more important, I think.

The first list is good. I think it is also an in betweener. I'd probably take out some warg riders to add more orcs. You'd have a good amount of might to get things done that way and hopefully enough troops to not break too soon.

Elf of the North has a good list there too. The only problem I see with it is that you don't have a heap of troops to make use of the magic, however 39 troops at 500 pts is pretty good. The witch king can do some good damage too, just make sure you don't lose him. I definitely like this list, it would be pretty effective at a tournament I feel.

Rozinante has a decent list, its more about generally making the enemy not as effective and just slowly crushing them to death. Still tournament worthy but you would have to get onto threats vs the troops and heroes very quickly or they might ruin your day, so it can be hard to choose in that circumstance.
