I'm just restarted collecting LOTR models and this is my first attempt at making a list. I was thinking of doing a themed army lead by Lords of the Westfold.

So here it goes...

Theodred with horse and shield
2 Mounted Rohan Royal Guard
2 Sons of Eorl
2 Mounted Outriders

Erkenbrand on horse
2 Sons of Eorl
2 Mounted Outriders
2 Red Shields

Grimbold
3 Rohan Royal Guard
6 Helmingas with shields
1 Warrior of Rohan with shield

500 points, 25 models, 8 might

I'm not sure about the Royal Guard in Grimbold's warband, seems a little low on numbers too.

I'm not really a fan of Theodred; I'm of the opinion that Eomer is a vastly superior option, considering he's got fate, giving him (statistically speaking) an extra wound, for a very low difference in price.

I'm also not sold on Redshields; though the FV is nice, I'd probably just pick up more outriders instead or something like that, and with so many cavalry already might possibly just bite the bullet and go 100% cav...

If not, probably skip Grimbold's Royal Guard for more numbers, so you've got enough numbers to pin down the enemy to more easily deliver cavalry charges.

I'm reminded of tactics with the Mumakil, in which one employs cheap infantry to pin the enemy into combat, and subsequently pulps them. Though you might not be trampling the enemy to death, charging cavalry will have a similar effect.
