I've been thinking about making an army for the 'world of men' theme I chose recently. I love the look (and fluff) of Dol Amroth, but apparently I am unable to get foot-knights anymore.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a suitable proxy or if there is a community agreed one?

If you have other suggestions for a 'man army', feel free to suggest. Thank you!

I've considered the Perry Miniatures "English Army" set from the HYW range.

https://www.perry-miniatures.com/produc ... 4dbmtbfb33

Their armour is more or less comparable to the Knights of Dol Amroth - the major difference would be the heads and shields. For the heads, these from ebob look like they might work http://www.ebobminiatures.com/products/components.htm . The shields would be more difficult to get 'accurate' ones, but there are plenty of manufacturers of plain shields, so it should be fairly easy to get hold of one that looks 'close enough' and paint the details on it.

Could also use the archers as Blackroot Vale troops, to differentiate them from the rangers a bit more. Good value, there.

It's a good option, for sure. I just wish my sculpting abilities were existent, then maybe I could put decent wings on some proxies. I'm still hoping someone has already achieved something.

I've seen some conversions from numenoreans before something like this:

Well that is just beautiful isn't it?

I wonder how he does the shields? That'd be my biggest challenge.

You could make a mould of one of the cavalry ones and re-cast it, or you could try and work with the numenorean shields

I think that's beyond my expertise, but it's cool to know that's possible.

You will never know. Try it first.

Such an interesting video. Thanks for that, might have to give that a try sometime for extra shields.

If you're not very handy when it comes to sculpting the shield imagery, and unwilling to learn (understandably, I never bothered), then you could always simply paint it on. I find this also enhances the look of the miniatures too, so much so that when I collected Rohan years ago I even shaved the details off every single shield in my army (probably nearly 100 shields in total) and repainted the details on myself. :-D

This is also a good alternative. Thank you.

I wonder why GW stopped making foot knights, yet continued to make their command and the mounted knights.
