| Post subject: | Help - Dwarf and Morder Starter Army Lists |
Hi all, I have not played any tabletop games for years. I am working my way through painting a lot of characters, but have some Dwarf warriors and Mordor Orcs coming soon. Also the Hobbit: Escape from Goblin Town models to paint. I am looking to build two sides that I can use as practice games. I am thinking around 300 points but not sure if this it is right amount to work on as a backbone. Sort of starter armies to build upon in the future. Apologies it is quite vague, but if anyone has recommendations for a Dwarf and Mordor starter army that I could use, please let me know. I am reading the rulebook and watching a number of videos on Youtube to get up to speed quickly. You never know, I might get time to get to some tournaments this year! |

For a full list I'd want to know more of what you're interested in but for the Dwarves start with Balin son of Fundin with Durin's axe and a good mix of Khazad Guard and Dwarf Warriors. For Mordor start with an unnamed ring wraith, orc shaman and moranon orcs, this allows you fury saves for your stronger troops, a wraith that can bring enemy monsters and heroes to their knees, And if there's enough points add a Mordor Troll for punch! |

Hi James, I am literally like putty  My first choice is painting them gaming. In times of style of play and choices of models, I like a number of core strength units on foot. Dwarves I seem to like after painting Thorin's company. I have Mordor Orcs and a ringwraith already so anything from there. I am building a small 3x3 foot board next month so staying away from cavalry for the moment. |

Starting with Thorin Company, I'd say WARBAND 1 Thorin with Oakenshield and Orcrist 6 erebor dwarf with Shields 6 erebor dwarf with Spears WARBAND 2 Oin Classic battle line with Shield on the front and spears behind. This army has one big tough killing machine and another one for support. Nothing to complicated, good to start learning in my opinion. as for evil WARBAND 1 Nazgul 5 Mordor orcs with Shield 5 Mordor orcs with Spears 2 Mordor orcs with Two Handed Weapons WARBAND 2 Orc Captain w/Shield 5 Mordor Orcs w/Shield 5 Mordor orcs w/Spears 2 Mordor Orcs w/orc Bows This army has both the bows and the two-handed weapons, a spellcaster and a normal captain. |
