Thanks for the feedback, guys. I mentioned collecting other factions, but his heart is set on Mordor. It's a pretty small start, but I'm sure once he's played a game with his own, hand-painted models, the collection will grow pretty fast.

I have a friend who's played the Mines of Moria scenario with me a couple of times, and now he's sufficiently into it that he wants to start collecting some figures. To that end, we're trying to put together a list where the primary focus is easy to find models. My first thought was this: W1: Ringwraith w/ +1 Might, +1 Fate W2: Morannon Captain w/ Two-handed weapon 3 Morannon Orc w/ Shield 3 Morannon Orc w/ Shield, Spear 1 Morannon Orc w/ Banner W3: Orc Shaman 3 Morannon Orc w/ Shield 3 Morannon Orc w/ Shield, Spear 299 points, 16 units, and just 3 purchases! How does it look? |

Thats pretty good, but Id switch out one thing. Switch the Morannon captain for Gorbag or Grishnakh unless you really want that captain. Those characters have one more might and are pretty easy to find cheap. The list is good though. Otherwise, Isengard, and Moria goblins are easy to start an army with as well. And hell, Goblin Town goblins are great prices and easy to find. Ive got a whole extra army for sale myself at home because its been so easy to find them in mixed packages or cheap auctions. |

Looks solid. All I'd do further down the line is drop the Shaman and use the Wraith to lead that Warband, freeing up points for a few more Orcs (Morannon or otherwise) to bulk out your numbers a bit. |
