Dude how do you sleep at night? That 'thing' is creepy. Cannot fault your sculpting however, I'm looking forward to seeing how you finish the more 'normal' looking poses. Lets just hope you don't give em zombie faces :D

And the character on the Children of Hurin book-cover looks fab, please sculpt him and get him cast for people with their chipolata fingers who are incaple of sculpting :roll: (not like me)

:wink:

Heh! They look excellent! Great sculpting. Way better than I could ever do.

Wow some neat casts, what kind of material are they cast in? Looks like white plastic.

These would be an excellent addition to any mutant force! :D

They're resin, not sure what type though. Somewhere in between GW plastic and Forge World Resin. Really easy for cleaning, cutting and converting.

Here's my first test mini:

These are looking pretty snazzy dude.

How long did they take to sculpt?

It's always been an interest of mine to try my hand at sculpting a mini, rather than just using GS to fill gaps etc. Any tips you want to share?

I can't remember, maybe 3-4 weeks for these 8. I kept a diary over at Troll Forged Forums to show the progress each sculpting session, it also showed how I built them up from the armature.

Other than maybe checking that out all I'd say is get sculpting, I started out terribly. I've used GS on and off for about 10 years but only started sculpting full mini's in May this year.

Main thing is using the correct amount of putty and getting it in roughly the correct shape/mass when you put it on the armature. That and learning to tame GS, I love the stuff now.

Cool, cheers for that.

Maybe I'll give it a bash. Once I've finished my FotN stuff. Once I've cleared some of my painting backlog. Once I've cleared my desk.

Nope. It's pay day. More mini goodness for me.

Maybe I should invest in some brown stuff instead.

:D

edit - Wow! I didn't realise you only stay about 20ish miles away from me... :shock:

Next project is some zombie troopers, or 'Animated War Corpses'. Straight out of no mans land and mass graves.

Very much WIP :

So many, so many! Where do you find the time to do all this? Incredible stuff, though I would much rather see you put your creative skill in the Lord of the Rings range.

These minis will compliment your existing range nicely :wink:

Very soon ! For me LOTR is all about xmas, since the movies were all released at xmas. I reckon end of Nov early Dec I'll start on some LOTR stuff.

Still unsure where to begin, bear in mind these will be for sale so I won't go near anything that's too close to New Line IP.

Any suggestions? Dwarves, Elves, Men ? First Age, second age? I've always wanted to do some really fine Elves of my own design, maybe from the second age (multipart). Orcs are covered by GW.

Nice work mate again, what level of detail are on the casts unpainted as it is hard to see from the pictures and are they for sale as I wouldn't mind a set myself.

The resin is hard to photograph because it's white but absolutley zero detail has been lost ! I was so so impressed with Troll Forged, I think they us a strong vacuum chamber to get the tightest possible mould. I even saw part of my fingerprint on the sole of one when I quickly packed it flat with green stuff (you'll never see it since it's on the bottom of the foot, but it was quite impressive !).

The detail totally goes beyond GW plastics and rivals Forge World ! Thats the power of resin over plastic I suppose.

Ideas hmm well give me a day or two to conjure up a selection, but off the top of my head,

* Heavily armoured Elven warriors
* Elven Characters
* Some injured men (Osgiliath vets?)
* Shade (call it what you prefer, but anything is better than the GW disaster)
* More Dwarf Lords
* Dwarven elites
* Mounted Wizard (Radagast) - endless possibilities
* Arnorian warriors - cheap resin alternatives needed :wink:

I'm sure more will pop into my head. The choice is endless though so long as you opt for a name which doesn't relate to the copyrighted stuff. I think a set of 12 resin arnorian warriors would be a good start and a popular choice, especially if they have their own individual poses :D

Shades/spirits, Men (generic: can't copy the GW arnor uniform I'll need to invent my own) and armoured elves (my own design, similar though) are on the agenda I think.
