I secong Telchar, do not bring WFB into this. That is completely seperate from LotR, some people might love Middle-earth but can't stand the Warhammer universe and vice-versa. Also, WFB models look cheesy.

Wait war hammer can be more unbalanced than WOTR????? I mean I love WOTR despite its problems but the idea that one of GW most popular games is as unbalanced as you seem to suggest is a serious problem to me!! I'm quite happy that I've stuck with LOTR in that case...

I brought up WFB because it's a tray game like WotR, and I despise tray games more than I like LotR

Yup, WHFB is the most unbalanced of all of GWs games, but that being said, all of their games are unbalanced.

And the over-large part of WotR is quite balanced. Just the Elf (far too weak) and Mordor (FAR too strong) lists, and a couple of loose units like Druzhag, Arbalesters or Blackshields.

And many of the "Overpowered" combos people use can be destroyed when you actually watch out for them (Elf bunker, Gimli+Aragorn+Khazads).
