Does it make any sense to take Gulavhar (200pts) in an 500 point sbg army for leader?

Gulavhar is in the Monsters of Middle-earth list, meaning he really can't be your army leader. He can be allied in, however at 500 points that probably isn't the best idea.

Yeah, probably not. What other army were you going to take with him?

could probably have worked with goblins if you took Gulhavar a captain plus loads of Goblin warriors

That's true, you could probably make it work with Goblins. Still not sure it would be the best thing you could do though, for the price of Gulavhar you could have 2 Trolls and another captain too.

Gulavhar should be fine for 700pts, I'm not sure he'll be very thematical with Easterlings though.

By the way, I love his rules too! 8)

Great rules...

...

...but almost useless piece of Wanna be Balrog...

Nah just kidding, the only time I used him he got pretty much shot down (By Legolas) without even killing anyone. So keep his defense of 5 in mind...

But cool rules and cool model.... shame really ("cough" defense 5 "cough")

Ah lol i was somehow confused :dizzy: :-D  Well you have to protect him from bowfire of course... but if you know how to use him he's a flying badass...

Well he is indeed, until opponent fields any hero with 3 might, 3 attacks and with a Fv of 6+ then Gulavhar is screwed...

def 5 ain`t THAT bad

Author:  Mouth-of-Sauron [ Tue May 25, 2010 6:55 pm ]
Post subject:

yes it is...

I had Gulavhar down to 2 wound, meaning 2 atttacks.... I charged Two elves, thinking that by killing those two, Gulavhar would regan 4 wounds and thus do some real killing but Legolas used all his might points and his Deadly shot rule in order to shoot into combat  so Gulavhar was down to 1 wound

he lost the fight and those two Elves managed to kill the beast....on ascore of 5... believe me it (defense 5) is bad..... for 200 pts!!!!!

i see that it is low for a 200 pts

Noone can argue with that. :-D But once he starts losing it can very easily go very quickly down-hill from then on.
