Post subject:  king of the dead WOTR duels

Since king of the dead and Captains of the dead are in formations with Spirit Grasp, Does this mean that when they Fight heroic Duels they fight against the opposing heroes courage aswell.
i skimmed through the WOTR FAQ and could not find it so cann anybody tell me either the answer to this or where to find it

A Duel has no effect on Defence, so this doesn't happen. You roll your dice and add your fight, whoever gets higher wins by that many points. Those points are one die roll per point on the table and the effects applied.

Where it can help though is that your Dead have Terror. If the enemy Formation failed to pass it's Terror check when you charged them then they are at Fight 0. Your Dead just became much better in the duel. 8)

There's a lot of discussion about how "useless" Terror can be considering all the factors of Hero courage, etc. But with only a couple well used spells it is very useful indeed. My 1000 point Dol Guldur force usually had Mouth of Sauron and Khamul (I feel dirty using him due to the overpowered rule, but he's the most themed Nazgul for Dol Guldur). The two together could hit a Formation with two Sunder Spirits, which if not resisted or countered give a minimum -2 Courage, and I'd sometimes luck into a '6' to have a -4 Courage. But even with the -2 a lot of basic Formations and even a few lesser Epic Heroes have a chance of blowing the Terror role. In my personal experience with both my Elf (all cause Terror) and Dol Guldur (about 1/3 of my force cause Terror) I'd say that a failed Terror role either preventing someone from charging you or giving you an advantage when you charge, happens about 20% of the time in an average game for us.

So don't count on it with your Dead, but if you find yourself in a situation where your opponent blows the Terror test then Duel the cowardly Hero and then have fun watching your Spirit Grasp force shred whatever is left (helps to have a caster or two that can put down a -1 Courage somewhere if needed!).
