The only thing that you can't do is shoot at a model that is in combat or that has a combat in the way of the shot. There is nothing stopping you shooting any of the supporters if you have a clear view, regardless of whether it's pike or spear. In fact in your example it is better to shoot at the spearman because if you kill him then the fighting guy loses both supports.

Also remember that the supporting models almost always have a lower defense than the front line combatants.
