Hey all, I've been wondering how many cavalry models you can use in a Warband. I would imagine 12, as it doesn't say anywhere (that I can see) that a mounted model counts as 2. However, all of the examples using cavalry have no more than 6 models in them, and in this month's issue of White Dwarf, one of the "Tale of Four Gamers" participants counts a Hero and 6 cavalry as a full warband. |

Its 12, dont trust White Dwarf. They are gamers who write a magazine not developers of the games |

Well, also remember they are incorporating a point limit into that article you mentioned. If you have "x" amount of points then of course you can not go beyond that limit. So, it comes down to number crunching. It could very well be that the player could only afford 6 cavalry in addition to their other warband and the hero's to lead them both. Our gaming group is also doing the "Tale of Gamers." I think we're at 5. For the 1st month you need 2 warbands. A full warband can be 1 hero and nothing more or up to 12 warriors...and the hero to lead it. Following month we need to have a total 500pts Warhost, painted and ready to play. There has to arise a flexible common sense factor for these things. |

The one and only reason they put 6 models in a cav warband in those articles is because most cavalry boxes come with 6 models inside. They show you how to build a simple army using just a few full boxes, rather than complicating it. |

Alright, that's what I figured. I'm sticking to 6 for counting as a full Warband for the competition, since that's allowed by the GW rules. Also, I only have 6 metal and 6 plastic Kataphrakts and they are slightly different. |

The only reason they're listed as having 6 is because that's the amount that come in a single box. The infantry are listed as 12 because they come in overpriced boxes of 12. The metal infantry are usually listed in groups of 3 in the sample lists only because they come in blisters of 3. |

There is no difference whether they're cavalry or not. |

The rules for 'LOTR: Tale of [insert relevant number here] Gamers' say that cavalry count as 2 models for the purposes of scoring points for models painted in time for the challenge. |

I should have said WD rather than GW, as one of the competitors in their current Tale of Four Gamers has a cavarly Warband of 6 models plus a leader and counts it as a full warband, as Gothmog says. This and several other instances of there being 6 or fewer cavalry in a Warband, coupled with the absence of any documented Warbands of 12 cavalry led to the initial question. This has since been resolved, thanks. |
