Post subject:  Starter Army lists - 300 Points Good and Evil
Hi Everyone, I've recently gotten back into the LoTR SBG and have just got my hands on some of the source books (Mordor, The Free Peoples, and Fallen Kingdoms) and have been making some sample lists to help get the rules down (I'll mostly be playing with my buddies and girlfriend - so nothing has to be too competitive).

From feedback I received in my earlier post here, it seems 300 points is a good entry level list.

So, without much further ado, here are my lists (Mordor/Easterlings and Dwarves)

Mordor/ Easterling list:
Warband 1:
Mordor Orc Shaman (12/12 Warband)
Orc Warrior w/ HW + Shield x4
Orc Warrior w/ Spear x4
Orc Warrior w/ Orc Bow x2
Orc Warrior w/ 2 Handed Weapon x2

Warband 2:
Easterling Captain w/ Easterling Halberd (12/12 Warband)
Black Dragon w/ Shield x4
Black Dragon w/ Pike and Shield x4
Black Dragon w/ Bow x4

Dwarf Warband
Warband 1:
Dwarf Captain w/ Shield (12/12 Warband)
Dwarf Warrior w/ HW and Shield x4
Dwarf Warrior w/ Bow x4
Dwarf Warrior w/ 2 handed weapon x4
Warband 2:

Shieldbearer 60 (7/12 Warband)
Dwarf Warrior w/ HW and Shield x4 36
Dwarf Warrior w/ Bow x3 27

Currently Modelwise I only have a box of Easterlings (the older 20 count box)

But I have ordered the following: Dwarf Warriors (24 Count), Easterling Command Blister (Older Commander/Banner), Orc Shaman, and the metal Fellowship box.

I'm thinking I'll probably use a couple of the new Dwarf Heros from the new boxed game (I'll definitely be picking it up) as Stand ins for my Dwarf Heroes until I get some suitable ones. I'll probably have to grab a box of Mordor Orcs for my Orcs too.

Any Suggestions on the lists, and/or what to get next?

I would take less 2HW Dwarf warriors for the sake of more warriors with shields.

I' d agree with the above , shields are points well spent, two handers still need to part of your army but alway try and team them up with someone else (eg shields) that way your not always fighting at a minus one.

That's some good advice, I think I will drop two Dwarves with 2-handers for two more with shields then. The -1 on your combat roll can be pretty rough.
