So here is my question:
does "The Hobbit" have the same rules as LotR?
because i want to know if i can combine figures from LotR Tabletop and the new game the Hobbit, because otherwise i would not buy any of those expensive new models :)
thx for your replies!

Hehe ...thats the million dollar question mate! We dont know if the rule sets are the same..At the GW site, the hobbit rulebook description, gives infos only for the hobbit sbg game. So you could wait a bit till this clears up or go to a GW store and see for yourself by browsing a rulebook.

on white dwarf daily it says "Fans of The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game will be pleased to know that the core game has been enhanced with new game mechanics that will really get your gaming juices flowing." which suggests that the hobbit rules will work for the lotr line, and also the fact that the lotr sbg book is no longer for sale online, but the models are, i dont see how they can't.

I hope the new models heroes can lead warbands of the old ones ( like goblin king with the old goblins etc)

I've heard that most of the core rules will be the same, but there will be a couple new rules.
What i'm curious about is how the point match games will work out, Will "the misty mountains" be a New separate army?

It seems to me that the hobbit rules are valid for lotr but are expanded for example they have made new heroics and rules for particular weapons (maces, axes, swords). Monsters and heroes have extra killing power now. It is till not clear wether this replaces the core rulebook but as the pictures (lotr armies etc.) suggest it does. Time will tell

It's an update tot he rules with new ones. Much like Return of the King was to two Towers and One Rulebook to Return of the King...

I noticed if you look on the page for stats, none of the heroes have might will and fate points, so that may well be a drastic change.

I think GW was just too lazy to put M/W/F up, because as said they added more heroic actions, which requires might. Of course, they coud change the way heroic actions work, but that would be a rather drastic change.
