Just to clarify, if an uruk captain is being supported by two pikes, will all 4 of the dice being rolled in the duel off (2 from captain + 2 from uruk supports) have the fight value of the captain?

This notion was brought to my attention by the most recent GBHL Q&A and I was wondering if this was correct.

I’d appreciate it if someone pointed me to the correct page in the Hobbit rules.

Lastly, do people like this ruling?

Thanks. :)

No, only the captains are FV5. But in a multiple fight it doesnt matter as you use the highest FV in the combat. It's in the spears section.

Don't really have a opinion on the rules as it works fine.

p69 Spears: A spear-armed model fighting this way contributes a single Attack to the Fight, at his own Fight value and using his own Strength characteristic, [...]

p69 Pikes: [...] the rules for pikes are the same as those for spears (see above) with the following exceptions [..nothing about Fight value..]

So no, the pike attacks have the same stats as the models wielding them, not that of the bloke in front. Generally, this doesn't matter however, because:

p43 Multiple combat; Duel: [...] When comparing the dice rolls to see which side has won, only consider the highest scoring dice and the highest Fight value on each side.

Ah, yes, thank you for pulling up this segment.

For some reason it’s still not clicking with me.

Maybe using spears or pikes was a bad example...

I suppose it would easier to understand if someone could comment on what Jamie states around the 9:55 mark and tell me if this way of thinking is correct or not.

Is it important for Gil-Galad to roll that 6 because he has the higher fight or is it okay for Gil Galad to fluff his rolls as long as an elven warrior gets a 6 because you use the higher fight value on the the good players side during that particular combat? :?

No, it doesnt matter whether Gil-galad or the lowly elf rolls the 6.

When you have multiple models in a fight, take the one with the highest fight value and take note that he has the highest fight on your side, then roll all your dice and if you draw with your enemy, telll your opponent your model with the highest fight is X (in your example an uruk captain). Imagine it works lime that bit in DoS when Bolg has two of his lackeys distract legolas, then he rushes in to strike.

The reason you should not state everyone in the fight having their fight value raised to that of your best person is because of things like transfix, feint, whirl etc where you may need to use the fv of your spear support instead of your captain.

In addition to the other answers, keep in mind that you still have to roll Gil Galad's dice separately because he can only add Might to his own dice.
